Monday 20th December 2021

I graduated.

Graduation Day

Thursday 2nd December 2021

In this article I reflected on the UK prime minister's dislike of anything that gets in his way. It seems pretty clear to me that we are at risk of losing democracy. As an anarchist I might not choose liberal democracy but a slide into authoritarian rule must be resisted. We are close to losing this battle. The article was published in Freedom on 2nd December 2021. I thought carefully about the first line. Since publication, I've been told that Thatcher and / or Blair were worse. I've also been told that I seem uneducated for writing this piece. Social media is a joy. I'm not going to do a detailed ranking of how terrible previous prime ministers were. With Johnson, the threats are built upon what his predecessors achieved and what he intends to achieve eclipses them in terms of rowing back on human rights, protests and the power of the executive. I stand by that first sentence.

We need to stop Boris Johnson before it is too late
